Autoimmune & Chronic Disease Support
Living with a chronic or autoimmune condition can be complex and overwhelming. Naturopathic care focuses on understanding contributing factors, supporting the body’s systems, and helping patients feel supported and informed as they navigate long-term health concerns.
Care is individualized and designed to complement conventional medical care.
Autoimmune and chronic conditions often involve multiple systems, including the immune system, digestive tract, nervous system, hormones, and metabolism. Symptoms may fluctuate, overlap, or change over time.
Naturopathic care focuses on understanding why symptoms are occurring by looking for underlying contributors such as inflammation, immune and gut function, stress physiology, and lifestyle factors. By addressing these root contributors, care is aimed at supporting overall function and helping improve symptom management as part of an individualized, collaborative care plan.
You may seek support if you experience:
-
Autoimmune conditions (alongside medical care)
-
Chronic inflammation
-
Persistent fatigue or low energy
-
Digestive concerns associated with chronic illness
-
Pain, stiffness, or joint concerns
-
Skin conditions with an inflammatory or immune component
-
Hormonal or metabolic changes related to chronic disease
-
Stress, burnout, or nervous system dysregulation related to long-term illness
Care is always personalized and may include:
-
Support for immune system balance
-
Reducing inflammatory burden
-
Digestive and gut support
-
Nervous system and stress regulation
-
Nutrition and lifestyle strategies
-
Targeted supplementation
-
Acupuncture, when appropriate
Treatment plans are adapted over time and designed to work alongside medical management and specialist care.
Supporting chronic health means supporting the systems beneath the symptoms.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you treat autoimmune diseases?
Naturopathic care does not replace medical management of autoimmune disease. I work with individuals living with autoimmune conditions to support overall health, identify contributing factors, and help manage symptom burden as part of a collaborative care plan alongside their medical team.
Do you work alongside specialists?
Yes. I frequently work with patients who are under the care of family physicians, endocrinologists, gastroenterologists, rheumatologists, and other specialists. Care is designed to complement existing medical treatment.
Will I need to stop my medications?
No. Naturopathic care does not require stopping prescribed medications. Any changes to medications should always be discussed with your prescribing physician.
Do you use testing for autoimmune or chronic conditions?
Testing is discussed on an individual basis. When appropriate, functional testing may be used to help inform care, alongside conventional lab work and medical assessment.
Complex Chronic Conditions
Some conditions involve overlapping systems and can be particularly challenging to navigate. These may include symptoms related to immune function, the nervous system, circulation, digestion, and stress response.
I work with individuals experiencing complex chronic conditions such as:
-
Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS)
-
Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS)
-
Chronic multisystem inflammatory conditions
- Health concerns associated with environmental exposures, including suspected mold exposure
-
Overlapping autoimmune and functional symptoms
Care focuses on identifying patterns, supporting regulation of affected systems, and providing individualized, paced support that complements medical management.
Naturopathic care for autoimmune and chronic conditions is not a replacement for medical care. I work with patients who are followed by family physicians, specialists, and allied healthcare providers, and support care plans that align with medical recommendations.
